You don’t have to Surf to Be Stoked.
Some days spent paddling out are purely magical; nothing compares. Time seems so irrelevant; problems are inconsequential. Life is good.
It’s been over 2 years since the ocean held me. My last encounter with her was September 2010, the cove you see in that picture.
The other day I woke up and realized how much I miss the ocean.
I saw a picture of my friend Mark Gabriel; he was holding the first place trophy for one of the competitions he won last year.
We shared a few comments on Facebook and it dawned on me that I have been missing something in my life; Stoke.
A few minutes later Mark shared a picture with a quote from Chapter 3; “We are meant to cultivate immense happiness and share it with the world. Instead we mostly demand the world provide the feelings for us.”
It dawned on me that I’ve been doing the latter.
My desire for certain circumstances have distracted me a little bit.
So, back to basics it is.
Time to Get Myself Stoked.
Stoke is nothing more than an overwhelming sense of awe and a deep sense of being; absence of thought.
It’s so easy to get wrapped up in this thing called life; to feel as if there will never be enough time. It’s even easier for our mind to blind us of the beauty of life as it searches to validate, co-create and manifest the _______ of your dreams. Maybe we could all use some daily reminders of just how amazing this all really is.
Take a moment before you continue reading to soak in the image of this boat and those purple flowers.
Feels good doesn’t it.
Consider the following quote;
“the atoms that make up the human body are traceable to the crucibles that cooked light elements into heavy elements under extreme temperatures and pressures.” Neil deGrasse Tyson
When is the last time you thought about that!?

You my friend are comprised of Star Dust.
You are part of the Universe and the Universe is part of you!
You are connected to all things that have manifest into physical form throughout space/time.
Before you go about the rest of your day sit with that for a moment. If you’ve been craving for a sense of belonging; there it is. You belong here, now.
You are amazing and special to the very core of your being.
Do you realize that?
According to Mel Robbins TedxSF talk you are something like 1 and 400 trillion chance of even existing! It’s a great talk. If you’re interested in changing some things about your life, you may want to watch.
She uses a certain F_Word that you probably use every day and that you may want to stop.
So, how do you feel now?
You are made up of stardust, and you are one in 400Trillion; so rare and precious.
Let’s just sit with this for a moment. Breathe in and realize the majesty of your own being.
Consider the world in which you live.
Right here, right now. Think of all the factors of life that allow you to breathe the air you breathe. The sun, the trees, the birds and the bees.
We live in web of life. We are interdependent beings existing on this planet today. We need to start remembering this one on a daily basis.
Balance is key to our survival in more ways than one.
But, for now just breathe in; you’re a miracle.
Breathe Out; You have arrived.
As you continue your day remember these concepts.
Spend the day in Reverence for all things.
Eat Nutritious Food today, and drink fresh, clean water as if they were nectar from the Gods.
See the people in your life today as part of this Universe unfolding. Let go of the stories just for a moment and be in awe of those around you. They too are miracles.
Take time to enjoy the creations of Human Kind.
We have so much art, music, poetry, architecture and technology that inspire awe.
Find some daily and get lost in it.
Make love to the World.
It’s Easy to Lose Our Sense of Wonder
We just get used to things, and take so much for granted.
Listen, I know that there are pressing matters. I’ve got a list and you’ve got yours. But, in reality that sense of overwhelm is self-induced.
It can be cured by remembering your sense of wonder and awe.
If you discover something today that brings you to a sense of awe please find time to share it with me. Tag me @tsmcauley and tell me what’s awesome!

Very COOL! Sometimes when it rains I sit and listen and think about the way that it all works….how the rain formed and got here. The gift that it is in the world around me.
Magical!
It’s been raining here for the past two days and rather than focus on how dreary it is, I opened my windows and sat in stillness, listening to the rain. I’m in awe at how peaceful and calming the sounds of nature are!
I’m going for a walk right now.
Such an amazing experience when we allow it to be huh?
Great post and so interesting. Too many people take life and everythng for granted. It is wonderful to hear that we are a miracle and it is amazing to be here. It is good to realize that as soon as possible and then enjoy life and where you live. I was just walking down to the postoffice this morning, down High Road, but all I saw was the blue sky between the clouds, the beautiful colours of the trees and bushes in some gardens, and totally enjoyed the trip. I forgot about the traffic and busy people around me. How a walk can change if your mind thinks differently enjoying life and thinking positively. I loved it! – “Make love to the World”
Thanks for this awesome post, you are amazing too!
I walked the beach every and watched the sun rise in Guarapari.
Sunrise and sunset are magical times of the day.
